The first plat of the city of Chicago was drawn in 1830, followed by its incorporation as a town in 1833, with 350 people. It became famous through the devastating Chicago Fire of 1871 that took the lives of over 300 Chicagoans, and the World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893 that attracted over 27 million people from all over the world.
